Post-Surgery Care and What to Expect

After your procedure, your comfort and safety are our top priorities. You will be monitored by our trained and experienced medical staff until they are confident that you are alert and stable. Once this is confirmed, you will be provided with written post-procedure instructions regarding diet, activities, and medication. It’s important to ask any questions during this time and ensure you understand the instructions to achieve the best recovery results.

Discharge Instructions

  • Responsible Adult: It is imperative that you are discharged to a responsible adult who will assist you during your recovery at home. This person should drive you home, as you will not be able to drive yourself.
  • 24-Hour Care: You must have someone with you for the first 24 hours after surgery. Do not plan any other activities on the day of your procedure. We highly recommend that someone stay with you to monitor your condition. If you do not have anyone available, we can arrange for a responsible adult through a personal care agency. Please let us know well in advance if you require this service.
  • Normal Side Effects: It’s common to feel dizzy, drowsy, or nauseous for 12 to 24 hours after anesthesia. Therefore, you should wait at least 24 hours before:
    • Driving or operating equipment
    • Signing important documents or making decisions
    • Consuming alcoholic beverages

Follow-up and Support

  • Follow-up Call: A staff member will contact you after your procedure to check on your condition and ensure that you are following the recovery guidelines properly.
  • Emergencies: If you experience any serious problems or complications, do not wait for the follow-up call. Please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room immediately.
  • Medication and Care: Do not take any medication that has not been prescribed or approved by your surgeon or referring physician. If you have concerns or questions about the medication, please contact your doctor right away.

Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any further questions about your recovery process. Your health and comfort are our primary concern, and we are here to support you every step of the way.
